May 4th, 2006 - Gotta Love the Ringet!

We arrived in Malacca, a small historic town on the West Coast of Malaysia that connects by ferry to Dubai in Indonesia. The city is renouned for an active trade network and was inhavbited by Dutch, Chinese and Indian inhabitants, thus the city has a wide array of architecture. We arrived at 12:00 and pretty much covered the whole city by 7:oopm. Passing by shops it was tough not buying everything in sight! They have some really unique clothes and trinkets and everything is very cheap. For example, this internet cafe is 33c Canadian per hour. In Australia we we lucky to be paying 5$/hr. We've decided that at the end of our trip in Vietnam or Thailand, we're going to induldge ourselves with souvenirs and replenish some of the pounds of luggage we left behind in Australia. Tomorrow, we board an old Dutch ship/museum and then it's off to Kuala Lumpur for a couple of days...can't wait!
P.S. No diarrhea yet.
