may 12th, 2006 - PADI Open Water Diver extraordinaire...!

We started our first theory lessons and practical pool dives at 8:45am. The three chapters which we were supposed to read the night before, but as slackers we'd only finished the first because all three would have meant reading 170 pages of technical theory. Anyways, they re-inforce the readings with the videos, and fortunately Laure and I are quick learners and are the only two in the course. We passed our quizes with flying colors never getting less the 90%. The afternoon was in the pool and involved a series of practical skills that we were prepared for in advance, and then the skills were practiced underwater using signs. It's quite amazing the first time you take a breath underwater and takes some getting used to, but by the afternoon, both Luare and I were breathing comfortably and fully enjoying the sensation. Along with the dangers and potential trouble spots there's also tons of gear and signs that need to be recognized. Alot to take in in one day, especially when your on vacation. Tomorrow, it's off to Ko Phi Phi, a famous island off the main land with tons of dive sites. We'll keep our fingers crossed that we can equilize!
